“Magic by Misdirection” by Dariel Fitzkee

I have been reading this book, and it is really really good. The book is no other than the last book of the Fitzkee Trilogy ,‘Magic by Misdirection’ by Dariel Fitzkee. (Highly recommended by Mark Parker)
This book is different, please do not expect to learn new tricks in this book. However be prepared to rethink your routines and the very philosophy of your magic. Some of the concepts taught are not new, however they are most crucial in every magical performance. This book was first published in 1945, and 65 years later, these gems of knowledge still apply to every magician.
This books is a real treasure as it goes through some relevant topics like, ‘Real Secrets of Magic’, ‘Psychological Expediments’ and ‘Suggestion and Inducement’ just to name a few. Personally I have learning magic for the past 8 years, and manuals after manuals, tricks after tricks have been purchased, but it was not until this year that I actually read a book on magical thoughts, and I find the last 8 years of magic a waste.

Here is one book that should be in every magicians library.
The Royal Road to Card Magic is a wealth of information.
I was first introduced to the Hindu shuffle 7 years ago, but today for the first time i have discovered many other uses for the hindu shuffle. This book not only guides you step by step but has illustrations to guide you along. This book through the many different card control techniques as well as advance flourishes.
Some may ask, why books ?
Well, I had once posed such a question to Johnny Thompson.
He replied that you may learn a magic effect easier, but unknowingly you may pick up the performances style of performing as well.
I have been watching DVDs for ages and i have just learnt a very valuable lesson… BOOKS!
I have realized that i can remember the effect much better and internalize it much better. Maybe its because of the constant correction and time taken for practice. One thing is for sure, you will learn much much more from a book then from a DVD. There are currently 3 products in the market for the Royal Road to Card Magic. The Book ‘Royal Road to Card Magic’ is by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue. A DVD of the same name by R. Paul Wilson and another DVD ‘Very Best of Royal Road to Card Magic’ by Jason Greenamyer. Needless to say, The most economical of these 3 would be the book, not only do you get a immense amount of instruction and help, but at a fraction of the DVD price.
