About Us

The Magic Circle was first created in 2002 as a place for Project SMILE graduates to hone their skills and participate in community work. However, it has gone on to achieve popularity beyond the alumni. It has loyal fans among magic aficionados in Singapore and the region. In a country where magic is still a fledgeling art, such an organisation is a vital symbol and watering hole for a small but passionate magic community.
Official membership puts the figure at around 3000, but new faces are always turning up at the wildly popular Magic Circle Meetings. This is due in part to the excellent program which gives room for new and aspiring magicians to perform their acts and receive constructive critique. But there is also a strong camaraderie among the members which immediately puts newcomers at their ease.
Magic Circle is not just about getting together to show off new tricks. As a group, the MC has pulled off such mega performances as Chingay 2009, where street magicians were mustered to entertain the crowd. MC was also heavily involved in Qian Qian Shou, where over 300 Chinese national students were trained in magic and community service.
MC also put up their first ever large scale community magic show – Christmas Magic on 12 December 2009 which played to packed audiences, including 11 charities and raised more than $23, 000 in donations to TOUCH Community Services, a voluntary welfare organisation.
Our Vision and Mission
Magic Circle of Lawrence and Priscilla is to build a community of magicians committed to helping one another excel in their magic performance and have a heart to serve the society.
“When I first envisioned the Magic Circle in my mind,” said Priscilla Khong, “I saw people from different walks of life gathering because of their common interest in magic. This group of ordinary people went on to explore the mysteries of magic and to hone their craft. They promoted the art, brought smiles to the faces of many people all over the world, and in turn inspired others to take up magic. I am thrilled to see my dreams coming true!”
