pro magic challenge

Fujisawa Mayuko, Japan Winner!

Mayuko is the only female magician in this competition! Her act was uniquely different from the loud noise and bouncing energy the men displayed. Her performance was centred on a sweet Alice in Wonderland theme. Most remarkable are her instantaneous costume changes. Four costume changes in all! She appeared first in a black jacket and A-line skirt, then shed it for a blue Alice in Wonderland outfit, then slipped into a orange dress and finally into a red polka-dot dress.

Tanaka Daiki, Japan 1st Runner Up!

This Japanese boy is among the youngest of the magicians. His act with rainbow-hued umbrellas of all sizes is cheerful and entertaining. Coloured silks are produced to complement umbrellas; the size of his umbrellas gets larger and larger till he whips out a multi-coloured golf umbrella. When he was done, there were no less than 14 umbrellas on stage. And he never forgets to smile at the audience! His act is strongly reminiscent of Magic Fukai’s umbrella stunts; but this is no surprise, considering that Fukai is his mentor. A breathtaking and kaleidoscopic performance by a very young talent.

Akiyoshi Fujimoto, Japan 2nd Runner Up!

His routine can be titled Ballet of Smoke or something similar. Akiyoshi wreathed delicate patterns of smoke with a lighted cigarette to dance in the spotlights. Smoke was blown into balloons which burst to release smoke bubbles. Smoke rings also "changed" into tangible rings. Akiyoshi did not jump from one illusion to another, instead, his acts consistently made clever use of smoke.
